I planted two trumpet vines to grow up a two-story trellis about 10 years ago. They thrived, but got overwhelming, so I cut them off at the ground. But now shoots are coming up all over the yard and under a ground-level wooden deck. I dug down and found large roots 3 inches thick in places. What can I do to eradicate this vine? Thanks.

Your best bet is to dig up the complete root structure wherever you see the shoots coming up. Trumpet vines are tenacious, and just cutting them off doesn't always kill them. Good luck!
