I am ready to plant out my Cleome and Verbena (blue bedder) seedlings. Should I pinch either or both of them to promote a fuller flower?

Cleome, or Spider Flower, will grow 3'-4' tall, producing plenty of flowering stalks without much encouragement. Just cut back the spent flower stalks and the plant will develop more as the season progresses. You should pinch out the growing tips of Verbena while the plants are young to encourage additional flowering stems. Be sure to remove dead flowers to keep your Verbena blooming all season long.
