| The best control of worms, caterpillars, beetles and bugs is to pick them off your plants whenever you see them. It's quick, efficient, and poses the least problems for plants, people, and beneficial insects. But, if your plants are overrun with pests, a botanical insecticide would be the next choice. Caterpillars (or little green worms) can be effectively controlled with Bt (Bacillus Thuringensis). It's a bacterium that acts as a stomach poison so expect the critters to continue to feed until they ingest enough to do them in. Bt is available in dust or in liquid form, sometimes labeled 'Dipel'. As with all pesticides, use only when absolutely necessary, and use according to label directions. |
