What's the best way to preserve rose trees over winter? I know that I have to do something with them for winter, but I've been hearing conflicting suggestions. Some say to bury them, but I'm afraid mice or something may get at them. Others recommend putting them in a basement. |
Both of those suggestions will work. Here's what author Lance Walheim recommends in Roses for Dummies (ISBN 0-7645-5031-4). "Dig up tree roses and store them for winter in a cool garage or basement. Or, dig only one side of the tree rose's roots so that it can lie on its side. Then secure it in place with stakes and cover the whole thing with soil and mulch." I hope this information helps! |
