The Q&A Archives: When to Plant Gladiolus in SD

Question: When do I plant glad bulbs and how deep?

Answer: In northern climes, glads can be planted whenever the ground is ready--usually around April through late June/early July. Glads take 70-100 days to bloom, so you can back track from your fall frost date to make sure you have enough time. Plant about 8 inches deep to provide support from winds, because they are such tall plants. Good luck with your glads!
