The Q&A Archives: Transplanted Fig Dropped Leaves

Question: I planted a fig tree. After a few days all the leaves fell off. What is going on?

Answer: If it dropped the leaves that soon after planting the cause is transplant shock. Either the roots dried out or were otherwise damaged in the transplanting process.

Give the tree a good soaking if you have not already done so, and it should grow some new leaves soon. Our southern summers are a stressful time for plants, especially new transplants.
