I am looking for climbing roses that will grow in the Arizona heat. |
Some climbers that do well in Arizona include Don Juan, First Prize, Fourth of July, Peace, and Royal Gold. I think that Hallie Beck's book "Roses in a Desert Garden" also lists climbers. You might also be interested in what is called "old garden" or "heritage" roses. There is a beautiful heritage rose demonstration garden at Maricopa County Cooperative Extension in Phoenix. It's open daily, no admission fee, during daylight. Roses are all marked with names and there are some vigorous climbers in the collection. Good luck! |
