The Q&A Archives: Overwintering a fuschia

Question: I have a one year old fuchia. It has been kept in the dark basement all winter. How do I revive it this spring? RoseMary Lunde Elroy, WI

Answer: I'm afraid to say your fuschia may not have made it through the winter in a dark basement. Usually these plants need to be in the light all winter, green and growing to survive. You can check by snipping a few branches and see if there is any green in the stems. If there is, then move it upstairs into a sunny window and keep it well watered.
