The Q&A Archives: Daylilies changing colors

Question: I have had daylilies for 3 to 4 years. Last year, they were not the same color and were smaller. Is this normal? RoseMary Lunde Elroy, WI

Answer: I haven't heard of daylilies changing colors, but anything can happen in the garden. They may need a little fertilizing this spring with compost and fish emulsion to get them to grow better. If the clump is large, it may also need to be divided. Dividethem in spring or summer after blooming.
