At my local nursery, we have just received a new perennial named "rumex". There is absolutely no information on it in any local book. What can you tell me about it? |
Rumex is a genus of more than 100 species of perennial herbs. Many of the species are weeds and include Dock, Sheep Sorrel and Red Sorrel, all attractive but invasive weeds in most parts of the country. One of the contributing factors to the growing list of noxious weeds in many areas of the nation is the escape from cultivation of garden plants with aggressive, invasive habits, so think twice about including this family in your garden. Rumex grows in full sun to light shade and require regular watering in the summer. |
