This is my first garden I would like to know what you mean when you say to cut the main head on broccoli?

The process sounds more confusing than it really is! Broccoli plants grow a single stalk. When the head is ready to harvest, cut the stalk down, leaving some stalk and leaves on the plant. The plant will likely produce smaller side-shoots just above the remaining leaves. This second harvest is always smaller, but just as tasty as the main head. If you want just one crop, pull the entire plant out of the ground when the main head is ready to harvest.
