The leaves and buds of my water lilies are being chewed off by some type of bug or something and are left floating on the top of the water. Can you tell me what would do this and how to control whatever it is? I do not have any fish in the pond so it will not be a problem as to what I can or cannot use to control this problem.

I had a similar problem in my pond and it was quite perplexing. I finally discovered that snail and slugs love the stems of water lilies! You might try going out with a flashlight at night and shining it on the leaves. You may very well find snails or slugs on the leaves and stems of your water lilies!
