Answer: Many insects are beneficial and should be left alone. When destructive insects arrive, the beneficial insects will do battle with them, preying on them or using them as nurseries for their offspring. There is no insecticide, biological or chemical, that is effective against all the insects in your garden. There are some specific measures you can take against specific pests, but you'll need to identify the critters before you can take any action, other than hosing them off with a strong stream of water or handpicking them from the plants. Healthy plants can put up with a fair amount of insect damage. And, as long as you can deal with less than perfect leaves and flowers, you may not have to do anything at all!
