The Q&A Archives: Stopping root maggots

Question: Will beneficial nematodes stop root maggots from ruining my radishes? Steve Mertz Ludington, MI

Answer: You can help deter root maggots by adding a generous amount of hardwood ashes to your radish bed before planting. Also, rotate crops so that you do not grow radishes where any member of the cabbage family has been grown in the last 3 years. Predatorynematodes may help your root maggot problem.
