The Q&A Archives: Planting Hollyhocks

Question: When is the proper time to plant hollyhock seeds or is it
better to put out plants and when? Thank you.

Answer: Hollyhocks are easy to grow and either seeds or transplants can be started as soon as temperatures warm. Some hollyhocks are annuals; others are biennials and won't bloom until the second year. Once established, hollyhocks self-sow easily. Good luck!
