When is the proper time to plant hollyhock seeds or is it
better to put out plants and when? Thank you.

Hollyhocks are easy to grow and either seeds or transplants can be started as soon as temperatures warm. Some hollyhocks are annuals; others are biennials and won't bloom until the second year. Once established, hollyhocks self-sow easily. Good luck!
