Answer: Cornus sericea 'Kelseyi' is a low-growing (24-30") and compact, hardy dogwood that adapts to many soil conditions. It does need plenty of moisture, though. It will do well in full sun or slight shade. If your soil is sandy, you'll need to water often. Topdress the soil with compost mixed with a 1/4 dose of 5-5-5 fertilizer, and mulch well around the shrub. If it will be exposed to wind, protect it with burlap this winter. By next winter it should be hardy enough to go without protection.
