My 6-7 year old kiwifruit vines finally produce blooms and what looked like small fruits followed. However, they disappeared. Can you tell me what might have happened and how to remedy it next year?

Both male and female kiwi vines flower. The male doesn't set fruit. If female flowers are not completely pollinated the small developing fruits will abort. So, the flowers were either male or they were not pollinated. Make sure you have at least one male plant for every three female kiwi plants. Encourage insects to visit your garden so they will transfer pollen from male to female flowers. Better luck next year!
