| Whiteflies (little flying insects that look like tiny white flies) are very difficult to control. You must spray the entire plant including the underside of the leaves and you must repeat it according to the label instructions so that you catch subsequent generations left by the adults you have already killed. Also, you must be careful not to apply sprays when temperatures are too high as this can cause leaf damage, too -- it might cause damage as serious as the pest you are trying to fight. You might try using yellow sticky traps to catch some of the adults (and to help you monitor activity) along with insecticidal soap or summer oil or a spray with pyrethrum as its active ingredient. Again, be very careful to follow the label instructions. |
