Is July 4th too late to set out a bed of Asparugus? What is a good time to plant in Massachusetts?

Asparagus is best planted in early spring and that is also when the dormant crowns are available; to be honest I doubt you would find any for sale so late. To get a jump on the planting for next year though, you might want to start preparing the soil in the asparagus bed now. An asparagus planting lasts for many years so it is worth any extra preparation you can do!
