As soon as one or two fruits begin to develop on each vine you can pinch out the tip of the vine to stop further growth. Doing so will direct the plant's energy into developing the pumpkins instead of producing additional vine and foliage. Pinching the tips of the vines will not harm the plant and will keep the plants slightly more condensed.
