The Q&A Archives: Getting Rid of Fairy Rings (Lawn Fungus)

Question: How do you get rid of "fairy rings" or fungus in your lawn? HELP!! Patti Reno, NV

Answer: A fairy ring is a circle of fungi that usually appears in late summer or fall. The rings develop from pieces of wood, such as a stump or discarded building lumber buried underground. The easiest way to get rid of a fairy ring is to find the wood--whichshould be in the center of the ring--and remove it.
