| ALL the GREEN leaves on my azaleas are falling off. The leaves are not brown at all and if you bump the plants more leaves fall off. The plants are over a year old. What could be causing this? |
| Sounds as though the vascular system is distressed. Sudden loss of water (through disease or drought) can leave the foliage green but dead. Scrape the outer tissue off a few stems to see if green matter is just below the bark. If so, the shrub is still alive and may recover. If not, it's dead and should be removed from the garden. Some azaleas like growing in full sunshine and others prefer shady conditions. Perhaps yours are getting too much sunlight. Check the drainage, too. Wet feet can cause root rot.
