Is it possible in the Dallas area's long growing season to grow a second crop of sweet corn? If so when should I plant. |
Yes it is. However, sweet corn is one of the few crops that does not do as well in fall as it does in spring in Texas. Most vegetables do as good or better in fall. In order to grow a good second crop of sweet corn you should plant it in mid-July so it has time to grow and mature before the weather cools off too much in the fall. It may help to select a variety with a somewhat shorter days-to-harvest interval, say 70 to 75 days. |
