Answer: Kohlrabi (Brassica oleracea) is an odd-looking, fast-growing, versatile vegetable related to cabbage and broccoli. The edible part is the enlarged stem or "bulb" just above ground level. It can be eaten raw or cooked. It can also be frozen or stored cool for winter use.
Kohlrabi grows in hot or cool weather so it can be planted in July for a fall harvest, in addition to one or two earlier sowings. (It is about 80 days to harvest.)
