| Japaneese beetles are eating my basil as well as my marigolds. The marigolds that are getting hit are shaded while the ones with more sunlight are ok but not great. Any solutions? |
| Japanese beetles are very destructive and their eating habits do seem to vary from area to area and even year to year. Gardeners have a number of ways to battle them. Neem products or those containing Sevin may be used according to the label instructions, or the beetles may be hand picked and dropped into soapy water. In the case of the basil, you may find it preferable to harvest what you can and hope the plants regrow later when the main part of the beetle season has passed. |
