Little fungus gnats just love organic debris and moist conditions, which is exactly what your potted plants provide. A good solution is to put a barrier between the soil surface and the gnats by placing an inch or so of decorative rock over the top of the potting soil. Once you've eliminated access to their favorite hiding and breeding sites, they leave in a hurry.
