| In my yard there is a beautiful small flowering plant. Last year, my husband cut it back at the beginning of fall and this year it came back again. I have not been able to identify what species it is. I have asked a few people and nobody seems to know!! I hope you can help! It begins to grow in spring, but doesn't flower until June or July. The flowers are a beautiful purple and are in the shape of a star. The flowers themselves are about 2 to 3 inches. They last for a few days and then die. New flowers bloom until about the end of August. When the flower gets ready to bloom. it looks like little balls on the end of each stem. The plant itself is no more than 12 to 15 inches high and it does appear to love sun and lots of water. I hope you can help- thank you Melissa |
| Based on your description I would guess it may be a platycoden (Balloon Flower) of some kind. If not, perhaps a campanula of some sort (there are many). Let's hope I'm right on the first try! |
