I have a new butterfly bush & it has flowered beautifully. Do I deadhead the spent blooms to encourage continued blooms or not?

If you have the patience, deadheading will definitely help the plant to keep on blooming longer, although the bloom size decreases somewhat later in the season. For the best blooms, make sure your shrub receives plenty of water, also.
