| Overwatering may lead to root rot but it shouldn't delay the formation of fruit on your tomato plants. What can cause problems is overfertilization. Too much nitrogen will result in lots of vegetative growth, at the expense of flowers and fruits. If your tomato plants are getting lots of sunshine they should flower and bear fruit as soon as the plants have reached the right stage of maturity. Water your plants deeply but infrequently - generally one inch of water per week is sufficient. |
