I have a 20' pine tree, and it has 5 babies growing under it, how can I transfer them to another area and will they survive? They are 12 to 24 inches tall. |
You might be able to transplant them, but it is difficult to do successfully. You will probably have the best success rate with the smaller ones. The best time to try would be early spring. Water them well the day before. Dig them up with as much root as possible and transplant immediately. Mulch and water well, then keep them well watered (the soil should be moist but not soggy) until they are reestablished. You might also want to flag the planting spots if they are in lawn area, these tiny trees are easy to mow over by mistake! |
