I bought a bag of Miracle Grow and repotted two plants. One plant seems to be doing great but in the pot of the other one the soil appears to be moly. A bright yellowish type of mold. It seems to be on the top layer of soil and at the very bottom. The name of my plant is a ficus (rubber plant). Is there something wrong with the soil or my plant? What can I do?

Mold growth on potting soil isn't an unusual occurance. It happens most often under wet, humid conditions when organic matter is decomposing. You can scrape or dig the mold off, decrease the humidity, or place decorative rocks over the soil surface to keep it from growing.
