| I was given some seeds for wood hyacinth. I know they should be planted when fresh and that they are difficult to move once established. Can you tell me the exposure they require, and any special requirements they may have? Your help is appreciated. |
| I am a bit concerned since the seeds may be a bit old at this point in the year; in normal conditions they would have self seeded in late spring. Wood hyacinth bulbs should also be planted as soon as possible so that they stay plump and do not dry out excessively. Wood hyacinths (Hyacinthoides) are unusual spring bulbs in that they prefer a woodsy location in partial dappled shade. A moist but not soggy site with moderately rich soil is good. |
