I am looking for a good ground cover that would do well in a really rainy, salt air enviroment. The ideal ground cover would be able to withstand constant rain, shade, and be able to take-on blackberry bushes too!

Erigeron glaucus, also called Seaside Aster, might be just what you're looking for. It's native to the Oregon coast and a compact, mat-forming plant with blue-green stems and lavender pink flower heads. Erigeron grows equally well in full sun to light shade, and moderate water.
