Some of the most attractive plants that thrive in hot, sunny gardens include Cistus purpureus (Rockrose), Caryopteris, Buddleia davidii (Butterfly Bush), Cotoneaster, Cytisus (Broom), Elaeagnus, Escallonia, Lavender, Nandina domestica (Heavenly Bamboo), Rosa rugosa, Rosemary, Sage, Liatrus, Oenothera (Evening Primrose), Zinnia, Watsonia, Verbena, Marigold and Sedum (Stonecrop). These plants will take drought, but they'll flower best with amended soil that will retain some moisture. Enjoy your sunny garden spot!
