The Q&A Archives: Stunted Peppers

Question: My peppers were doing great, now they seem to have stunted --I live in Santa Fe, NM and it has been very hot and dry here. Will this be a year that peppers will not do well? Is there anything that I can do to get them to grow taller since they at the flowering stage?

Answer: Many stunted peppers have a hard time recovering but there are some things you can try. Water regularly and deeply (don't keep the soil soggy), mulch well (but no mulch right up to the stem of the plant), and supply a high-nitrogen fertilizer with sulphur to give it a jump-start.
