The Q&A Archives: Flowering Container Plants

Question: I live in an apartment with a terrace that receives a lot of sunlight. Last year I tried flower boxes which hung over the railing. I grew petunias and pansies. I would like some suggestions for other flowers which do well in flower boxes. I also have a partly shaded area which I am look ing to fill with some flowers as well. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks! Marlena New York

Answer: The sky's the limit! You can grow almost anything in a container!!!!!! Lobelia, geraniums, ivy, fushias, ...even perennials like ornamental grasses, ...I could go on and on! For shady areas, try impatiens, ferns, bleeding heart, and violas. Have fun!
