Can I fertilize my azaleas in August or September? They have been neglected for a long time and want to get some root growth. Will it hurt them? |
Fertilizer promotes plant growth so it's best to avoid late fall and early winter applications when frost could kill back new shoots. You can safely fertilize in late summer, using a 5-10-10 (or similar formulation low in nitrogen), because the new growth will still have time to harden off before winter arrives. |
