The Q&A Archives: Turkish Turban Squash

Question: When is my Turkish turbin squash ready for harvesting? Right now it is dark green with white stripes, the bottom protrusion is white. What is Turkish turbin squash?

Answer: The turban types are winter squashes with hard bumpy shells and turban shaped ends; they come in a range of sizes and many colors. Although I am not familiar with the Turkish Turban specifically, it should be ready to harvest when the stem is drying and the skin is hardening. Turbans can be baked or steamed and some (especially the little ones) are used for decoration because they are so pretty.
