I have been trying to find a small fruit or vegetable which we called strawberry tomato. It was about grape size, yellow and had a paperlike covering shaped much like a Japanese lantern. I would appreciate knowing the proper name and where I might find it.

Sounds as though you're describing the ground cherry (Solanum melanocerasum), or the husk cherry (Physalis pruinosa). There are several varieties available, including Territorial Seed's 'Aunt Molly's', which is orange when ripe, and the purple fruiting variety called 'Purple', carried by Johnny's Selected Seeds. Contact Territorial at PO Box 157, Cottage Grove, OR 97424, or Johnny's at 1 Foss Hill Rd., Albion, Maine 04910-9731.
