What does the plant need to thrive? Sun or part shade? How large does it get? What kind of flowers does it produce? Acid loving or not? |
The variegated Hydrangea macrophylla "Lemon Wave" grows to between 4 and 6 feet high and wide and prefers moist soil in shade or partial shade. It produces a flat topped bloom similar to the other bigleaf hydrangeas. The blooms are a pale mauve so the soil pH is not a critical factor. It is only marginally hardy into zone 5b, and will not bloom if the wood is killed back in the winter, so be careful to site it in a very sheltered spot. |
