| Years and Years ago my grandmother grew many plants. I am hoping that seeds are still available for these plants so I would like for my daughters to see them. I do not know the offical name of either. 1) This flower grow dry and lasted forever no need to dry. As I remember it was small and golden in color although they may have been other colors. The largest I ever remember seeing was about as big around as a quarter. The leaves were layered similar to a dahlia. 2) The other plant was green and the seeds grow along the leaves as the seeds fell on the soil in the pot they would sprout new plants. Again the closed leaf design I can compare to would be and Oak tree leave, but MUCH MUCH smaller. We called it a Monkey Plant. Thanks for your help in tracking down these seeds for me. I will be greatful as I am sure my children will be. |
| The first flower you describe sounds like Strawflower (Helichrysum). The plants are 1'-4' tall, with flowers of bright white, orange, yellow or red. The stems are stiff and the flower petals are hard, even when the flowers first open. I'm guessing that the second plant is Lunaria, the Money Plant. This is an old-fashioned garden plant, grown for the translucent silver circles that stay on the flower stalks and are all that remain of ripened seedpods after the outer covers drop.
