I have moved into a house with wonderful grape vines on a trellis. There are several different varieties. Since I did not know how to care for the grapes throughout the year, my grapes are not as big and juicy as I know they could be.

How do I care for the grape vines throughout the year?

Other than harvesting, there's not much you need to do for the remainder of this year, but there's lots to do early next spring! Grape quality depends upon good pruning, which is done during the dormant season. (In your area that will be January - March.) Here are two resources you will find helpful in pruning your grapes: Sunset Western Garden Book, ISBN# 0-376-03851-9, and Pruning, by Christopher Brickell, ISBN# 0-671-65841-7. Both references have line drawings to help guide you in your pruning.
