How do you grow crepe myrtles? If by seed, do you have them for sale? If by cutting, how is it done? |
Crape Myrtle (Lagerstroemia indica) is a deciduous tree or shrub. There are some dwarf varieties available, which have been grafted onto dwarfing rootstock. You can root a cutting by taking semi-ripe wood (from a stem that grew this year and is beginning to develop bark), stripping the lower leaves, dipping the cut end in rooting hormone, and planting the cutting in sharp sand or other fast-draining soil mixture. If the cutting takes root you'll see some new growth at the tip of the stem. |
