| My huge split leaf philodendron was looking dull after 12 yrs in the house so I took it outside for the summer. The intense heat, unusual for Rochester, cooked the leaves. I cut it way back, which it probably needed anyway and now need to bring it back inside. How should I do this? |
| Plants leaves need a certain acclimation period before being moved from one extreme of light to another. I suspect that your plant suffered from the brighter sunlight outdoors and perhaps suffered a bit from drying out rather than from heat. To bring it back indoors it will also do better with a gradual change. Setit into a gradually shadier location over a period of weeks and then bring it indoors. Be careful not to leave it outdoors once the night time temperatures begin to drop and check it over very carefully for signs of insects before you bring it indoors. |
