I would like any information you could give me on the construction of a Victorian Clock Garden. |
I believe the inspiration for these must have come from work done by early botanists including Linneaus in Sweden. Sharon Lovejoy's book "Sunflower Houses: Garden Discoveries for Children of All Ages" (ISBN 0-934026-70-X) includes detailed instructions on creating a floral clock beginning on page 32. A brief look at Linneaus' work on flower blooming times can be found here: http://www.cbt.virginia.edu/tu... and a very detailed discussion here:http://www.cedar.univie.ac.at/arch/infoterra/96apr/msg00143.html Unfortunately I can't find a sample plan from the Victorian era, but this should get you started. |
