| My bed of perennial geranium sanguineum striatum, under a tree in full shade, gave a nice bloom in the Spring but now the plants are leggy with reduced foliage. Should they be pruned? or fertilized? Can they be forced to bloom again before next Spring? What care should they have to maintain the health of the plants? |
| Geranium sanguineum must be sited in full sun, so the legginess and sparse foliage is because they're not receiving the sunlight they crave. Cut them back hard after blooming to encourage further flowering, and provide regular water during the growing season. I'd transplant them to a sunnier bed this fall or early next spring so they'll have a chance to perform better for you. |
