The Q&A Archives: Pussy Willow Pruning

Question: When is the proper time to prune the pussy willow? Also do the ends need to be sealed after cutting?

Answer: The best time to prune a pussy willow would be in midwinter before the new growth begins. This way you can also save and force the catkins for arrangements. Current best pruning practices no longer recommend sealing or painting the cuts in any way.
