The Q&A Archives: Flowering Vines for Containers

Question: I am looking for a flowering vine that will do well in a container. I know that Clematis have a shallow root system. Would they thrive in a container environment? If not, what flowering vine would? Pamela Firster Phoenixville, PA

Answer: Clematic would do fine in a container. Just mulch the base of the plant and keep it well watered and in full sun. Other vines to try are scarlet runner beans, cardinal climber, morninglory and thunbergia.
