In early spring dig straight down between/next to the larger crown and a smaller one you want to remove. You will be able to sever off the side root and thus separate the smaller offset from it. Replant the offset at the same depth as it grew before, water it in well and mulch around it. Keep an eye ont he water until it becomes established. The original plant will soon send up replacements and regain its size in no time.
