The Q&A Archives: Asparagus Planting Dates for PA

Question: Can I plant asparagus plants out now - in south central PA? Our annual planting date is May 1. (Yes, I know asparagus is not an annual.) Sue Frey Hanover, PA

Answer: Don't be impatient! Wait until the ground has dried out and warmed up some. April can still bring cold rains and temepratures. I'd wait until the end of that month to consider planting our asparagus roots.
